My experience at the Training School

Our departure was an adventure!

Our flight was delayed by 4.5 hours and we had to wait at the airport all together and it was exhausting, but we had the chance to know each other and spend some time together.

After a big Italian lunch (pizza and pasta for almost everyone) we jumped into our flight and only 8.5 hours later we arrived in NEW YORK CITY!!!

Some Cultural Care's drivers were waiting for us and in 30 minutes we arrived at the Hofstra University in Long Island with a typical american white bus 🚍

After our arrival they randomly gave us  the keys for our room and when I got to know my roommate I was very disappointed and worried: she was terribly sick and I was too scared to stay with her and before going to sleep I moved to another room with two Italian (healthy) girls!

We had dinner and they explained that there were more than 450 of us and they had to split us in two groups: group A and group B

Everyone had the same lessons but at different times... I was very lucky and I was in the second group who had to wake up an hour later than the other one! 😎

They made classes of 20-25 and we spent most of the time with the people in our class.

Our schedule was pretty busy but after dinner we had the chance to stay with everyone else and we had an amazing adventure on Tuesday night!!

Instead of going to the Candy Picnic with the other au pairs we decided to go to.... TIMES SQUARE!

We asked for permission and  we took the University bus 'til the nearest station and the train for Penn Station. Less then one hour later we were there and it was STUNNING!

The classes were boring but my teacher was very nice... We made group games, activities, etc, so it wasn't too bad and the classes lasted only for two days!

On Thursday afternoon we had the chance to go to New York City!

We had a bus tour through the most popular points such as The World Trade Center, The Statue of Liberty, Central Park, The Empire State Building, The Brooklyn Bridge and at the end we went to The Rockefeller Center for the Top of the Rocks tour!

The view from there was INCREDIBLE!

I had a great time there and I made a lot of friends and we are planning to see each other as soon as possible to live other wonderful experiences together!

The last thing I want to tell you is about food and the meals. They were great so don't you worry for that... Discovering new food is part of this great experience so don't be scared!

Here's the list of all the meals we had in our week!

Just one question, why did you go to Hofstra and not terrytown?
