During my AuPair journey I took both the IELTS and TOEFL certificates and I have learned more about them.
In this blog page, I will try to explain the main differences, the different uses and how to prepare to successfully pass them!

TOEFL

I have done TOEFL iBT (computer based) in January 2018 (less than 5 months into my AuPair experience) and my score was 106/120.

I prepared at home, studying every week night after dinner.
I bought a book to guide my study and give me more tools to familiarize with the exam itself and I found lots of online resources for free.
I then booked my exam online for a Saturday morning, I had to travel about 30 minutes to the nearest center and the exam lasted for 3.5 h0urs.

IELTS

I have done IELTS paper version in July 2018 (almost a year into the experience) and my overall score was 8/9.

For this exam I also prepared at home, studying every time it was possible in order to get the best preparation possible. I needed this certificate to get my nurse registration in England and I had to reach a certain score in order to pass.
I have asked my host mum and some American friends to correct my writing texts and I've used a book to guide me through every part of the test.
